Back to school means teacher assigned reading logs at our house. Of course we read in the Summer too, but not always the recommended twenty minutes a day. How come the days seem so much shorter in the Summer even though the sun is up longer!?!
The point is, reading assignments from school usually help our family focus on “hitting the books” again. This year my daughter’s decided the Perfect Balance Gymnastics series will help her “meet the minutes”. If it’s her choice, she’ll pick a gymnastics book every time. And in my opinion there are no other fictional gymnastics chapter books that compare.
Perfect Balance Gymnastics Series
Reading Level: 3rd – 4th
Appeals to: 1st – 5th
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THESE BOOKS These delightful books are written with the elementary-aged gymnast in mind. They provide courageous heroines, age-appropriate conflict, and relatable plots.
Each book follows the story of a different gymnast offering unique strengths, difficulties, and personalities. Perhaps my favorite thing about these books is that they include correct and up-to-date gymnastics rules, levels and terminology.
Book 1 – I’ve Got This!
The first book in the series, I’ve Got This! is about trying new things, meeting new friends, and learning the value of hard work.
Book 2 – Nothing Better Than Gym Friends
The second book in the series, Nothing Better Than Gym Friends also stands alone as a great story about first meet jitters and young friendships.
Book 3 – Dance is the Secret Event
The third book in the series, Dance is the Secret Event is a fun addition to the first two books, but also stands alone as a great story about finding confidence, leadership, and getting along with others.
Author Melisa Torres promises to keep the books coming! Book #4 Is now available as a presale.
